Ingalls on the Prairie – The Gene and Fern Ingalls Story
This site is dedicated to the Ingalls descendants. I am a member of the family that was the subject of the Little House on the Prairie books and TV Series. One comment I have heard over the years more than any other is “I wondered what happened to that family”. I am answering that question while continuing the legacy Laura Ingalls Wilder began by reintroducing America to another generation of the Ingalls family. A few years ago I decided to write a book about my life. If you are fortunate to live long enough and look back, you will find you lived through remarkable times in America’s history. As I began to write my book I first discussed my Grandparents, and Parents and quickly realized, my parents lived through some amazing events in our nations history. I decided their story should be the first one told. My Dad had passed by this time, but I still had my Mother to help with details I was a little fuzzy on. This began the book in earnest, and timing could not have been better. My Mother and I worked for over 18 months on my book, and I finally had it published. Another milestone of this process was my book became available on what would have been Mom and Dad’s 70th wedding anniversary. It filled my heart to know their story has been told, and everyone that asks the question “What ever happened to the Ingalls family?” would now know.
These are images of my parents at their wedding August 28th, 1950. The cutting of the cake and Mom giving Dad a piece of it.
