Cruise 2023 The Ingalls Family Gathering Day 3

Day 3

The second day at sea. It was a fun day starting with coffee on deck 10 with brother Brad and Brett. Next was breakfast, I had the lox and bagel, and Brett has the ranchero egg both good but while we were sitting waiting for our breakfast to be delivered we saw this “Ken” berate a young man sitting in the row of tables behind Brett. He started by saying “I have something to say to you” speaking to the young man. He went on to tell the young man that he didn’t appreciate the language he used while his family was nearby. He continue for much longer than was warranted and finally told the young man that his response to his complaint was not what it should have been. I was not able to hear all of the conversation but enough to know that this man was upset for what he and his family heard in a very public setting. For me I thought Wow! that was a lot and from my perspective totally uncalled for. If this man had an issue with the language or topic of a conversation, he could have very easily pulled the young man aside and quietly suggested he be more aware of the people around him that could hear him. Enough on that. After breakfast we made a quick trip around the shops and bought some chips to take with us to see Avatar in the 3D theater here on the ship. I have to say my expectation for the theater was low but to my surprise it was very nice, big seats and a huge screen. The movie was just what I expected but I like those kinds of movies so it was all good. After the movie Brett and I were still not hungry so we decided to wait rather than go eat something just to eat. In retrospect that might not have been the best decision. We joined several family members on the Serenity Deck and had 3 drinks so when we left I was pretty happy. We freshened up and met the group in the Alchemy Bar and had a martini. Then to dinner and it was a mess, ugh! If you have a party of more than 10 you can’t use the Hub app to make your reservation you have to go to the Maître d to make it. I went down to make the reservation while everyone else waited in the Alchemy finishing up their drinks. The Maître d was having trouble making it because I didn’t have all the room numbers and I had just explained everyone was waiting in the Alchemy Bar for me to notify them the table was ready. She then suggested I call their rooms, ummm I just said I don’t have their room numbers and that they are waiting in the Alchemy Bar until I notify them to come down. She finally agreed and booked it. Once I was notified the table was ready everyone made it down and were on our way to the table. When I got to the table it only had 10 chairs, again, ummm I said there are 15 of us! I was then told there was a second table with 5 chairs, they had split us up. We were just about to begin seating when Franchesca came over and said they had put a table together for all of us so we moved. I had the lamb for dinner which was good but surprisingly tough. Sadly I had recommended the lamb to others in our group. Brett had the stuffed mushroom for dinner and like my lamb not memorable. After dinner we went to see the show and it was really good, a homage to the 70’s. The cruise director was great and very high energy!

Note, Franchesca made arrangements for our family to sit together for the remainder of the trip. She also came over to our table each night to make sure all was as it should be. We greatly appreciated her efforts and attention to our needs.

Take aways for the day,

      • This is the second sea day so at this point we have seen everything we wanted to on the ship and there will be some dead space. Bring a book or magazine to read.

      • I have the Cheer’s package so it is easy to over order especially if you are having a good time. Eating is important!

      • Tables of 10 or more cannot use the Hub app for reservations, get the room numbers for all guests or face the wrath of the Maître d.

      • For me, be nice and be happy!
